i pretend my food was cooked by gordon ramsay

For some reason I always wind up watching Hell's Kitchen when I'm vacationing in Perth. Partly because I know the internet's gonna be rather shitty, so it has become a ritual for me to download an entire season's worth of late-night entertainment in preparation for the trip.

You can imagine how extreme my 3am cravings get when I hear good ol' Gordon yelling "lobster capellini!!" and "scallop risotto!!!!1" at the top of his lungs. I'll be damned if he's complaining about them being "raw" and "stone FUCKING cold in the middle!!! u DONKEYY".

All the exotic seafood, cooked to fine dining perfection by Ramsay's impeccable standards, sound like absolute perfection, paradise, fantasy come true etc, etc.

Which is precisely why I just had to pretend that the seafood I gorged on at Fremantle came straight out of Hell's Kitchen.

Hey, a girl can dream right?

just wait til i get all rich and fancy, best believe imma get me a table at the REAL Hell's Kitchen

either that, or i blow my life savings on that one epic meal and go dumpster diving for scraps for the rest of my days :'))

#WORTHIT, i'll bet.

Kailis seafood restaurant, down at Fremantle. Nice and cozy seafood eatery :))

Classic fish n' chips! The piping hot sticks of freshly fried spud were fluffy within, goes really well with a hefty sprinkling of chicken salt. And if you're feelin' adventurous, doused in some vinegar as well. The sharp tang really adds a new dimension to the way you've been enjoying chips this whole time!

Ahhh, scallops. The BBQ gave it a smokey richness which I found to be a tad overpowering. Had to down numerous gulps of iced tea each time to wash all that jelat-ness down. Also, I'm not the biggest fan of the roe that's attached. Just give me the main star of the show and I'm a happy camper!

Guess I've still got a long way to go before experiencing succulent scallops simply seared a la Gordon.

My mum's garlic prawns! She was expecting something creamy instead of just drowned in herby oil. I found the prawns to be too rich, again lol

My lobster mornay!!

Ridiculously fresh, tender, juicy. Dreamily delicious.

The cream sauce was A++, was BEYOND thankful that it wasn't overly rich as well lol honestly I would've just died.

Cheese melt was tasty, all in all it was a great dish.

Of course, it disappeared down to my belly within seconds and at almost $50 for half of a lobster? That's like, my two weeks' worth of food expenditure right there.

It didn't just burn a hole in my pocket, why don't you just set my entire pair of jeans on fire while you're at it. Torching my broke ass in the meantime.

Damn, that's some expensive shit

Love u <3, but u hurt me so </3

Finna go save up for the next 12 to 15 years to introduce just one Gordon Ramsay dish in my life now, bye

i get way too excited by groceries in australia

Because I am a br0ke a$$ bit¢h, I've been trying my darndest to be awfully frugal. I haven't shopped for new clothes/shoes/accessories for like, 10 months or so. Unless I see a piece of <$5 cloth that's hanging in the clearance sales rack that just so happens to fit my body.

Also excluding my bombastic bargain buys in Bangkok. Bless the night markets, where else can you snag 7 tops for a wholesale price of 80% off the r.r.p?

Yet, I'm here now in Perth not yearning for shopping sprees to stock up my wardrobe with new threads. If there's anything I'd like to ship back home by the tonne, it's the irresistible array of supermarket goodies. Alas, food is something I'll always love too much not to splurge on. And yet there's barely a dent in my pocket even after I supply my trolley with enough nourishment to satiate the appetite of a full-grown rhinoceros (i.e me).

Really, now? Really???

Pasta, my looooove~~~! All types, too. Spirals, shells and rigatoni. Oh, my! *a billion heart eye emojis rise to the ceiling as i sprint down the aisles and sweep everything into my cart like a maniac without a care in the world*

Also, "69" cents? LOLOLOLOL

(maturity is Me)

I was so ridiculously enthralled by all the wacky and exotic offerings laying oh so majestically in the fresh produce section. Like, not even kidding. Strolling down that section of the supermarket was akin to making a trip to the zoo or something. Just marvelling at every new exhibit.

Goddamn, nature is full of wonder.

How big are these eggplants doe??? They're basically eggBOWLS at this rate.

Adorable??.? ??  ? ? um

Damn, I ain't even had a skinny carrot like that in my whole life tho forreal. But now at least I've received the privilege of seeing some with my very own eyes. Multiple whole bunches, in fact! #blessed

My mum caught me snapping this picture and she totally judged me and yelled, "没有看过白萝卜啊?!" ("Have you never seen a radish before?!")

Ok in my defence.!!

Aside from the sheer size of that humongous thing, I have very recently gotten into MAMAMOO. Like, way, waaaaaay into them. It started with one insanely catchy troll song that was produced, released and performed as a great big joke. Honestly, they were just parodying Unpretty Rapstar lol. Which I also happen to love!

That amount of dedication just for a spoof...And to have it unintentionally become such a smash hit of a song, too? Incredible lol.

But anyways yeah. Spent the better portion of my post-internship break binge-watching Mamamoo On Crack videos (bless this Youtube user who is hilarious as hell, a pity she's only made less than 15 videos in the series so far but best believe I've rewatched them all about five times each HAHA i need help) and now I am a hardcore, 100% certified MooMoo.

Which is the name of MAMAMOO's fan club.

Which also coincidentally translates to "radish" in Korean (무, pronounced mu").

Thus resulting in the root vegetable being adopted as the girl group's unofficial mascot. To the point where, instead of waving light sticks like any other normal K-idol group's fans, MAMAMOO's concerts consist of an arena illuminated by glowing radish-shaped torches.

Yup.

That is a thing.

Which I guess I am now a part of.

Taking pictures of giant Moos and shit.

My girls :'))) <3

Performing live on stage wearing radish onesies lmao FECKIN CUTE!!!!! im ded

(there's also a thing where fans (sorry i meant MOOMOOS) wear radish MASKS to go watch their performances but it just looks way too freaking creepy so...i ain't about to embed it here and let it fuel my nightmares lol. u have been warned!)

Great. And now, back to regular scheduled programming of Grocery Tales! :)))

P.S - not that anybody asked but my discovery of Mamamoo was also (partly) what lead to my first relatively drastic haircut in about 5 years! LOVE YOU HWASA, my short hair style inspo <3

What, pray tell, could this gorey looking vacuum-sealed packet of juicy red blood and guts be? A cow liver? A sheep's heart? FRESHLY DUG OUT OF ITS CARCASS WITH A HUMAN FIST PUNCHED CLEAN THROUGH TO ITS CHEST, STILL BEATING???!

Nah man, it a beetroot lol

吃饭

Definitely a recurring feature on my blog (#throwback to 2012 & 2013), I finally got to visit South Ocean again for the first time in ages. We first discovered this gem of a Chinese restaurant well over a decade ago, and it has since become a must-visit on every single trip back to WA.

My entire family has been dining there so often ever since I was a kid, especially during the period of time I was studying in Perth. I was practically raised on their scrumptious HK fare! Coz when you're a young rice-loving Asian, nothing beats digging into a piping hot meal that reminds you of home. And your ching chong China roots lol

There's something about the rowdy atmosphere of a Chinese restaurant that's particularly heartwarming, too. Step through the door and you're automatically transported to a comfy, safe space where Mandarin and an assortment of other Chinese dialects are the main mode of communication.

And of course, there was the clan of waiters during my childhood era whom I found suuuuuper duper handsome. But then again, I've always been told that I have rather strange tastes in men lol. Still, it's probably what instilled my love for Cantonese-speaking guys...teehee!

***

ABSOLUTE fave: Salt n' Pepa Squidz

The crispy battered skin is soooo ridiculously crispy and flavourful. As a tiny lil 8-year-old, I was quite the finicky eater so weird, bland and chewy squid was a big no-no in my one page long list of foods I'd actually eat. I used to peel the skin off and pair it with my white rice, chucking the squid meat rejects to my parents to get rid of lmao

I think Young Me would be mighty pleased to know that I now eat all dem gross looking veggies, and LOVE it too :')) Snow peas tho! <3

Vegetables are so freaking tasty when prepared right!!!! oh my gosh

Except for brussels sprouts, I must say. All those stereotypes in children's books turned out to be terribly true. The sweaty globes of fart-smelling putrid veg are just...no. Do not attempt eating them. It will not end well. :(

Crispy chicken! My dad's fave :)

He has to order this at EVERY Chinese restaurant we head to lol. Yup, even in SG. He could probably give you a tried and tested list of the 10 Best Crispy Chick Hennns there is.

Another regular every time we hit South Ocean up. It doesn't look the prettiest, but it's a delicious thick broth of tung hoon (a.k.a glass noodles, MY LOVE!!), with fried pieces of egg tofu (*droooolz*) and an assortment of other goodies. Like enoki mushroom! Choking hazard but very delicious haha (that's what she said)(just kidding)(that'd be weird)

Tried something new this time, think it's a limited edition special on their menu? KOREAN STYLE beef served with shredded fresh veg and soft-as-hell mantou buns! Forreal tho, they were soooo fluffy and fun to just press and squeeze for way longer than is appropriate at the dinner table huehuehue

Beef was tasty but way too sweet for my liking :\

If there was some Korean gochujang (hot pepper sauce) to go with it that would've been AMAZING omg

Fun fact: Gochu is also slang for penis in Korean huehuehuehuehuehue #TheMoreYouKnow!

Where Women Glow, And Men Plunder.

Hello from Perth!!

+1000 points if u got da title ref

The last time I'd been Down Under was well over a year ago. Mi familia went on a trip to WA without me some time in mid-2015, dumping me in SG with all my school commitments D;

Well I'm back here now to eat some good ass fast food and have supermarket adventures stocking up on dirt cheap, exotic groceries!

As ironic as the Universe could possibly get, I blog about my disdain for lamb only a few short hours before my flight, only to board the plane and get just 2 menu options of either white fish (which i am allergic to) or. Lamb.

Ok I ain't even wanna sound like a picky eater, ungrateful bratty ass lol any inflight meal I get to dig into is a GOOD one!

Braised in red wine, these weren't bad at all. Had that super strong pungency I detest in all lamb I've eaten throughout my life (instances which i could easily count on just one hand) but undeniably flavourful and aromatic as well.

Veggies were pleasant but crazily salty, which I guess they have to be coz human tastebuds supposedly lose a huge percentage of their senses when that high up in the air, hence all airplane food has to be HEAVILY seasoned to an extreme degree.

Best part fo sho' was the garlic mashed po-tatas, as expected. SO creamy and delicious, homaigod.

Even the smoked chicken appetizer with Waldorf salad was gr8. A++!

Goddamnit, I love airline food with all my heart :'))) ♡

Watched The Mermaid (a Hong Kong comedy) during my flight, and I'm honestly surprised I made it through the whole thing lol

what a cute concept!! can u identify all the different sea creatures weaved into their hair hehehe

Back when it was still showing in local cinemas around the beginning of the year, I was absolutely DYING to catch it because it was the only movie by Stephen Chow in a while. And I seriously missed his inimitable hilarity :'))

Still kinda sad that he wasn't in the actual movie itself (i think he's permanently retired as an actor. KILL ME) but if he's the brains behind it, it's gotta induce some decent laughs right?

I'd say the beginning portions were rather draggy. In fact, any scenes with the Rich Guy or Rich Girl were just boring. Did their job in steering the plot, sure. But it didn't contribute to the rip-roaring comic entertainment at all.

My favourite character, hands down (or should i say tentacle, TEEHEE!) was Show Luo Zhi Xiang as the fucking Octopus Uncle. Man, every time he appeared on screen I was just mentally prepared to giggle like a goon while cramped in my seat on a crowded ass airplane.

Good times, yo. I love 小猪 :))

Another scene that had me dying was the one where Rich Guy goes to report his mermaid kidnapping incident and the policemen have a hard time believing his claims of fantasy. Also when the cops tried to draw out how the "suspect" would look like lmao I WAS DED.

half human, half fish lol BYE

Check out the trailer here if you need one more reason to torrent legally obtain this box office record smashing comedy for your viewing pleasure teehee

Ok, dat all for my movie review rambling. As a final offering,

I can't believe Wu Yi fucking Fan a.k.a Kris of EXO-M fame (before he said adios and dumped those Kpoppers for a new career of his own based on the huge legion of fans he'd amassed from his short but powerful music career, once backed by Korean music industry giant S.M Entertainment) made a cameo appearance as quite possibly the randomest character of all time /GUFFAWS

He was pree cute doe, acting as a marine biology student on a scholarship to learn more about MERMAIDZ lololol ヾ(≧∇≦*)ゝ

fancy shit i ate @ strangers' reunion

Honestly baffled by the fact that I never got around to blog about these two super fancy and ULTRA expensive meals. But then again I am a Class A lazy piece of yanky danky doodle shite (wassup Gordon) so there's no surprise there.

Although planet Earth has gone through over half of its orbit around the Sun since I'd first consumed the ensuing foods, it cost me too damn much not to immortalise them on this web journal that's read by a grand total of 4 people. One including my baby sister who Whatsapps me spelling mistakes and grammatical errors no later than 15 minutes after I tell her a new post is up. And another being my mum who's just trying to stalk my relationship status and see if I make any mention of dating a new brown guy. (i wish, mama. i freaking WISH.)

Also one is me.

Idk who the last reader is, but thanks for supportin' yo. U da real mvp :'))

***

Visited the Strangers' Reunion cafe solo, twice. Both times to visit thy leading man Ian a.k.a DEAN TAN?! oooh he bakes

Service was pretty busy on both trips (especially the daytime one, shit was CRAZY) so I kept trying to spot Ian in the crowd while he did his waitering so I could establish eye contact and disturb him with my moon face emoji expressions. Alas, I'm pretty much blind without my spectacles (which i actively choose not to wear coz i m vain af and would apparently much rather fall into longkang than have the gift of sight) so I wound up staring at the wrong guy instead...multiple times lol

And my gaze was apparently just so leveled at the region of that poor random waiter's derrière so...that's nice. :'))

Sunday, 6th September 2015

Especially memorable coz it was the last weekend before I'd officially became an intern journalist at TheSmartLocal teehee. The beginning of an era!! I had nooo idea what amazing things were going to be in store for me haha. That wide-eyed, naïve but uber eager fool.

This was obviously taken at the height of my atas, act 一个 fancy phase. I mean, those sunglasses on the table? REALLY, bitch?? lol

Tryna be all Tumblr-esque and whatnot.  Sent way too much money down the drain, but what I did enjoy forreal was the quality alone time!

In fact, I enjoyed myself so much it spawned this blog post which I stumbled upon while going through my archives and checking if I'd ever posted these food pics hahaha. Such gr8 times!!

Besides a tall glass of iced cold Mocha ($5.50)(pretty okay deal? definitely not the priciest mocha i've seen across my cafe-hopping), I got myself the Ham & Homemade Goat's Cheese Omelette ($15)(again, solid price for a main course i'd say!).

I freaking LOVE eggs, and honestly I feel that you just can't go wrong with a nice, simple omelette stuffed with lotsa cheese. Well, unless you're Hatched lol. Don't mean to be rude since they're one of my fave cafes of all time, but damn. Their omelette was pretty ghastly :\

Stranger's Reunion served theirs atop some toast, so you KNOW for sure that 15 bucks is gonna go a long way in satiating your hunger haha. There was also a lil side salad (rocket tossed in vinaigrette, nothing super fancy but it pairs well with all the richness of the eggs, meat and cheese!) and what I reckon to be the absolute star of the show: SPICY TOMATO RELISH.

Perfect balance of heat and tang, every mouthful was made that much tastier from that dollop of relish on top.

Twas my first time trying out proper goat's cheese and...I'm not a fan lol. I found it way too pungent with a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste each time I gulped it down. I would probably never in my life order something with goat's cheese ever again lmao. But then again, I quite dislike lamb as well. And, I've heard that goat's milk is pretty nasty, so.

Guess I'll stick to my regular cow byproducts lol

/every time i discuss my heavily carnivorous diet i feel kinda bad?? like an army of vegans out there are foaming at the mouth because of my milk, cheese and meat-loving sentiments lol IM SORRY!! i must continue to eat them...dey juz too Tasty :'))

Friday, 18th September 2015

Still pretty early on in my internship, I decided to swing by Stranger's Reunion for a nice solo dinz. Nice and chill way to kickstart the weekend!

I honestly do not know what Past Me was thinking...blowing that kinda cash on fancy meals when I hadn't even received my first paycheck yet lmao WHUT?? Present Me still needs to deliberate for like 45 mins to see whether it would be financially feasible to go get a Paddle Pop from 7-11, god damn.

tfw your past self was #ballin like mad, so present day you is a broke ass bitch lol

save me

Affogato! ($6.50)

Vanilla bean ice cream was super decadent, A+ quality indeed. That shot of espresso was KILLER STRENGTH, yo. I am NOT kidding. My heart was palpitating like nobody's business after I'd so much as DIPPED the tip of my tongue into it.

ok that's a lil bit of exaggeration but u get it lol

I remember this dinner occurred when I was still in my hardcore Snapchat phase. Obviously I had to capture that pouring of espresso onto da ice cream ball, only I had a gross miscalculation of physics and the coffee wound up getting EVERYWHERE ON THE TABLE.

The waitress was super nice about it and came by immediately to clean up the sad brown puddles of my failure. And food wastage, fuck me.

The worst part was I was still helplessly clutching onto my phone, screen still opened to the camera function coz I am Dumbo lol hi helo it me.

This right here is the Truffled Cream (!!) Pasta with Italian Pork Sausage, Edamame & Parmesan ($18.90).

The cream sauce was just about as incredible as you'd imagine. Of course, the parmesan shavings were ridiculously fragrant and tasty, albeit a little on the stingy side. And that tiny lil baby pinch of truffles? HEAVEN.

I'm not the biggest fan of sausages (lol! except for those kinds of sausages HA HA HA)(sorry, i'm also not very mature obvs) but the herby Italian meat did bring a touch of savouriness to an otherwise entirely rice and creamy dish.

Edamame peas were on point, too. So cute and light! Who doesn't love edamame? Teehee (⁎⁍̴̀﹃ ⁍̴́⁎)♡

***

First time I got to sample their dinner menu. Prior visits were mostly centred around their famous buttermilk waffles, and one time I got to try their smashed avocado on bread (with BACON, no less!) which was superb.

To more gastronomically delightful trips to wonderful cafes in the near future!

If my funds would so allow it lol

idk if u can tell but i quite like SALMON

It was around late 2015 when I made the splendid discovery that I was, in fact, not allergic to oily fish. Just white fish, and that's it!

No thanks to that cursed Filet O' Fish I'd sunk my teeth into as a voracious 6-year-old...And the subsequent flareups of NEAR DEATH proportions throughout my childhood as my mother tried to sneak in pieces of common white fish into my food to "see whether I was really allergic" and "test my tolerance levels".

JEEZ.

So there I was, bordering 20 years of age still living under the belief that all fish = bad. Betta not touch it lest I want my lips and throat to swell up and itch like a bitch while the rest of my body self-destructs upon sensing the danger!

On that #blessed day where I first consumed a notable amount of salmon, I gave it a healthy window of time and ultimately noticed that I was completely fine and devoid of any physical symptoms. Other than a delightfully satiated tummy and a surge of omega 3 being absorbed into my bloodstream unlike anything my body had ever before experienced.

Plus, my heart rate probably accelerated quite a fair bit due to excitement of this wonderful World Of Salmon I had just unlocked. Think of all the possibilities!! OH MY GOD I am gonna eat all the salmon there is in the whole wide world!!!

Better late than pregnant never, they always say. But I had some catching up to do to make up for the past 2, salmon-lacking decades.

I...sorta went into overdrive for a month of two where I'd ONLY order salmon every time I went out for a meal HAHA

The following were taken between October 2015 to...earlier this week.

Note that this isn't even everything lol not even close! Coz I don't take pics of my food ALL the time. Sometimes I am lazy and/or too freaking famished to whip out my phone, ja feel?

SOOSH:

Strangely I'm still slightly reactive to raw salmon a.k.a sashimi. Tried it one time and within 2 minutes my physical being was collapsing upon itself. But at least I gave it a try so that's that!

Very content with just being able to devour cooked salmon anyway. Especially that succulent aburi, mmmmmm yas lord~~

Genki Sushi!

It was me first time there and honestly I was more taken aback by the incredible "train delivery" system than anything else but DAMN, these were some tasty ass SOOSHes!

These were from Itacho Sushi @ Changi Airport, my love~~

That minuscule piece of cheese was nicely charred, sure. But it added little to no taste value to the overall experience in thine mouth so PLEASE do not waste yo money on dat shiet!!

The delectable assortment of piped sauces is where it's at :3

Torched mentaiko sauce? Holy SHIT yaaas.

Ichiban Sushi:

Do not underestimate that tiny smidgin of chilli sauce because it lead to a straight-up spice EXPLOSION in me mouth. Spring onions were a bad garnish choice :\ So pungent and unnecessary imo lolz

These ones are from Chargrill Bar, which I absolutely ADORE. Their sides are prettyyyy amazing :'))

My fave ones to get are the potato salad, chips (they're thick as hell, crinkle-cut and doused in some glorious paprika seasoning mix instead of just salt. what's not to love?!) and the onion rings. Yes, I am very much an advocate for clean eating lol where da Health Promotion Board at?? I am DEFINITELY an Healthier Option™ lmao

Since we're on the topic of clean eats, DO NOT order the garden salad as one of your sides, even if they tell you every single other side dish is out of stock lmao EAT AIR INSTEAD.

I thought it was gonna be some quality shredded veggies tossed in a decent dressing, but nope. It was a mountain of shitty lettuce pieces drowning in spurts of mayonnaise. Topped off with a slice of fat and juicily DISGUSTING tomato (a.k.a satan's ass fruit) to mock me, no less!

The biggest disappointment in my life...and I have seen some shit, Belieb dat ._.

If I'm not wrong, one salmon steak costs $9.80 and comes with 2 sides, which I think is a g00d. a$$. Deal. Their salmon is soooo well-seasoned, I'm talking pepper and herb RUBBED deeply into dat shiet and grilled to crispy seared perfection.

Only gripe I would have is the inconsistency of the portion sizes...lmao

Also sometimes it can get a bit too dry but oh well, you win some you lose some! For a neighbourhood kopitiam chain stall tho, Chargrill Bar stays #winning <3

I am such a fan of them lol I can't even lie

This one's from Big Box at Jurong East. They have a cafeteria-like food court set-up that I'm quite sure is supposed to be like an imitation Ikea cafe lol

No complaints tho! Their food is cheap and grrr8.

Hefty slab of salmon, Hollandaise sauce was on POINT and there was plenty of it to go around! Went really well with the veggies, strong dill aroma throughout and it was just fab.

11/10 would recommend, I wanna go there again please lol someone living in the westside please hmu!!

Went to some kopitiam near parkway parade one evening when I was chillin in the east,

This was the worst shit ever. Super expensive (i don't even remember the exact figure but i recall being pretty pissed about the unjustified cost hahaha), the service was horrible, and I had to wait so long for this sizzling hot plate of POO. I was personally offended, it was that bad aight?

Look at those miserable excuses for fries, too. Just when you thought the sauce could be a saving grace for an otherwise indigestible pile of sludge, Nope. It was completely watered down and disgusting.

Sad, sad day for us salmon lovers worldwide.

Twas an absolute mess indeed.

Back on track with Saizeriya's hotplate offerings, which I'm goddamn sure was only a FRACTION of the price but so much better nonetheless:

See, the thing with Saizeriya's meat dishes is that it isn't the most well-seasoned in town. Hell, even the side dishes are sad ol' boiled corn and soggy potato wedges lol (i love u to death, Saizeriya. but u kno it's da truth!! wat da heck is up wit ur wedgez TBH).

So what I usually do when I get the salmon is mix it up with what little creamy spinach sauce it comes with, and drown the absolute hell out of it with a nice HEAPING of parmesan cheese.

Honestly, I don't even bother with the pounding of the can or endlessly trying to shake it out like some freaking Shake Weight (things can get obscene at the dinner table, im just sayin). Just unscrew the cap right off and proceed to pourrrrr dat lovely pungent powder out :)))

The heat of the sizzling plate will cook it right up and your cheese will get combined wit creamy sauce and become gooey, melty goodness.

U welkum <3

O' Coffee Club:

Takeaway versions of the same dish lol, hence the progressive hideousness.

Their's is a firm favourite of mine because it has an awesome, sticky shoyu glaze paired with a refreshing yuzu sauce that really cuts through the richness. Also, the creamy mashed POTATAS are always A++.

Sadly they're weirdly inconsistent with the side dishes AND presentation lol. Like, hey one day I'm just gonna give it to you seared and encrusted but the next time you visit Imma douse it in sauce so it's nice and WE T. and they keep freaking changing their menu?? So yeah idek if this item still exists. But it was fun while it lasted! :'))

This one's from Hot Tomato, which is well-known for their steaks and grills but eff dat lmao IMMA GET SOME SALMON.

This marked my very first one-on-one dinner sesh with Joyce...back then we were still at the old office. Damn, how time flies. That was the start of something new doe. TEEHEE. Ok I'm getting sentimental now, goodbye.

First and so far only time I've had salmon with a fresh and tangy mango salsa accompaniment rather than a creamy sauce! Was aight lol. Nothing that would make me crave it another time :\

Swensens pesto salmon:

I usually am a huge, HUGE fan of everything Swensen has on offer. Been dining regularly at good ol' Swennie's since I was a freaking baby so I practically grew up on that shit. But their salmon was just...edible. lol

Idk if something went wrong in the kitchen the one time I decided to order this dish, but the pesto "cream" sauce was legit just pesto WATER. Like, I am not kidding. You could swish it around in that lil cup, it was so liquified and tasteless I might as well have dunked the salmon into my cup of iced water.

Cmon Swensens GET YO HEAD IN THE GAME!! still love u doe <3

This was also a Major Disappointment in the form of a random kopitiam Western food stall I decided to try out for fun. Salmon was completely unseasoned and, in my many months of salmon consumption, was the FISHIEST by far.

Honestly I'd never noticed how off-puttingly fishy a salmon could be whilst I was eating it, until this one. Super bad, yo. :'(

Cream pasta was also completely tasteless lmao

It was one of those meals where I really had to force each bite down my gullet in the name of not wasting food, but every painful gulp was accompanied by a tear rolling down my cheek. (not literally but ya)

Finna end off on a high note! Yes it is true lol, we are almost coming to the end of this ridonkulously long post. Tbh it kinda spiralled out of control coz I didn't even want to write something for EVERY salmon pic...and it was meant to be kept to a short caption. But lo and behold apparently salmon gets me so emotional I must write a passionate paragraph on each piece that I've ever consumed lmao BYE

SALMON ADDICTS ANONYMOUS

This is from Fish & Co's healthier choice menu. All the dishes are supposed to be like, a total of 500 calories I think. When they sent the itty bitty plate over to our table my mum was like LOLLL wtf.

Seriously tho the portion is tiny, but kinda cute at the same time.

"What is this, a salmon for ANTS??!"

LOVED the grilled pumpkin chunks on the side, the creamy mushroom dip was pretty swaggy as well!

Fish & Co recently revamped their menu, I think. And they now have a wide range of salmon steak options. Full-sized ones, this time lololol

I got myself a nice and traditional herbs & spices salmon, but they also come in cajun spiced and Japanese seaweed furikake (i think??!) varieties. Idk lol, Imma go try them all out teehee IF I have the funds! It's kinda expensive.

But SOOOOO worth the splurge omg it was deelish.

Right up there in the TOP 3 BEST SALMON DISHES I dun ever tasted, I swear to you. Could very well be The Best, actually. Shit was gooooooood

You get to choose what 2 sides you wanna get and I got the tasty rice (idk wtf it's called lol IT'S GOOD THO)(love the plump and juicy raisins mixed in wit da spiced rice grains <3) and the seasonal vegetables coz I wanna ~*act healthy*~.

I can't believe there was barley in my veggies...I've always hated it as a child but surprisingly it's so much easier to down as a cooked side dish than as a sweet drink?? huehuehue

Bonus: Kenneth was using this salmon phone case for a brief period of time and it is just...everything I ever wanted in my whole entire life.

:'))

Sweet dreams are made of...fish
